Tyler's party

What a wonderful weekend!! The boys and  I flew up to DC Thursday evening, Jason was in Texas on business. I was hoping by taking a later flight one if not both of the boys would sleep on the plane. NOPE! Carson did a wonderful job but Tyler was "that baby" most of the flight. (Which was a big surprise given Tyler is such a mellow child and he has flown several times before and never had any issues.)   Jason flew in Friday night, just in time for the party on Saturday morning.

Since we didn't get in until 10ish on Thursday night I was not able to bake or start any party prep until Friday. I did do some prep work in Florida. For a craft I wanted to kids to make butterflies so I made all the butterfly bodies and glued them to the canvases and brought them with me. I also made caterpillars that said "happy birthday tyler," a caterpillar photo gallery,  caterpillar and polka dot cookies for favors, caterpillar stickers, and table tent food cards.

We invited the children to make their own butterflies using their hand prints (or footprints).

Cookie Favors.
I made 45 cookies in Florida before leaving. I wrapped them very carefully and to my surprise they all made it! (I made extras just in case a few broke.)

We celebrated with family and some good friends in Virginia. It was a wonderful party! We even had some friend come up from Charlotte to celebrate with us! Thanks to everyone helped us celebrate!!

It's go time!!

I am in full party planning mode this week!! It's a little harder trying to plan an event from afar but I'm always up for a good challenge! I have to pack up all my cake stuff along with the usual items for the boys and myself! Oh and did I mention I am flying with the boys by myself!! Yikes!! Say a little prayer for me!!

We are also pretty excited to see our families and some friends! Since we moved right after the holidays we gave been pretty busy and we haven't seen anyone since Christmas! (except my mom who came down right after we moved.)

A year later...

WOW Tyler turned one on Friday. I still can't believe I have a toddler and a little boy! Not only has the past year gone by fast but so has the last 4 years! Becoming a mom has been amazing! There are many days when I want to pull out my hair because one or both of the boys have done something over the top or Jason has been out of town for the last three/four days BUT there are MANY MANY more days and moments when I am able to sit back and look at my children and smile! They are my (our) little miracles! I get such joy teaching them both and feel SO very blessed that I have been able to watch and enjoy everyday of their lives "at home" with them both.

Tyler is has been such a joy! He is walking up a storm now! He is very much a mama's boy. I hate to admit it, but I don't mind! ha!! Jason and I don't plan on having any more children, so I LOVE the fact that Tyler loves his mama and LOVES it when I want to hold him tight!!

The words he says: Mama, bye, hi, nana, and dada (although he has only said it a couple of times)

Foods: He eats mostly solids now. He does still eat applesauce and the squeeze pouches of veggie/fruit mixes (I LOVE those!!)
LOVEs: bananas, mum-mums, puffs, mini pancakes, risotto, cheese pizza, gnocchi
Doesn't like: most veggies (although he loved them when they were pureed), mommy's pancakes and waffles.

He is still nursing!! WOW!! I can't believe it!! I stopped nursing Carson FULL time around 6/7 months. He was complete done by 9 1/2 months but at that point he was nursing only once a day and getting formula the rest of the time. Right now Tyler gets a night bottle with a mix of formula and whole milk and then I nurse him three other times during the day. I am working on getting him to drink whole milk so I can start to ween him off the breast.

Tyler had his well visit appointment today and he looks perfect (of course, right!?)
He weighs 26.11 pounds  and is 31 1/2 inches long. Both of those stats puts him in the 90 percentile. According to his growth chart, he is looking great. He continues to grow on the C curve!

Tyler was 21 inches long when he was born so he has grown just over 10 inches in the past year! He weighed 9.5 when he was born so he has gained just over 14 pounds over the past year! Good thing he is the only gaining!! ha!

On a side note I am very proud that am down 60 pounds since giving birth. It is something I am very excited about! I gained about 45 pounds with Tyler and 58 with Carson. I can't believe I am WRITING those numbers down! ha! Each pound was gained in the name of love, right?!

Here are some pictures we took on his birthday.
